To reward Facebook fans who petitioned to bring Bud Light Lime to Canada – making it an instant hit since its debut in May – the brand launched the Bud Light Lime Summer Music Promotion earlier this summer.

The result?  A big hit with fans, who showed up in force to vote for their favourite summer tracks and claimed the first thousand 10-song music codes up for grabs within hours after they were made available. 

“We’re having fun with this promotion and are excited by the participation we’ve had so far,” said David Nicholls, Brand Manager for Bud Light Lime in Canada. “People feel very connected to the Bud Light Lime brand and we value the direct interaction with them.”

The Bud Light Lime Summer Music Promotion, which was developed by Toronto-based agency Grip Limited and supported by Puretracks, had three interactive components:

 
 


1) Fan Music Suggestions


The promotion kicked off in late July with a two-week suggestion period, in which Bud Light Lime’s Canadian Facebook fans were invited to post their three favourite songs of the summer.


 
 

2) Fan Voting


Based on the fan suggestions, Bud Light Lime compiled a list of 19 top tracks and asked fans to vote for their 10 favourites.
 
 

3) Music Code Giveaway
 


A playlist featuring the top 10 songs chosen was unveiled to Facebook fans on August 24.  For a four-week period, the first 1,000 fans to log on to the Bud Light Lime Facebook fan page each week will receive a promo code to claim the top tracks of the summer. Those who don’t receive a music code will have the opportunity to purchase the tracks directly from the Puretracks store.

Obtain customer feedback and build an online database with a two-step music promotion.   To obtain their music code, customers can first be driven to an online survey or registration page and then provide a promotion password or package code to claim their music prize.  Upon real-time verification, a music code and download instructions will be emailed to the customer.
